NASD’s market capitalisation up 35% to N1.26bn, as value traded rises 34%










NASD Plc has recorded a double digit growth in all its performance indicators for the year ended December 31, 2023 with the market capitalisation rising 35.12 percent to N1.260 billion from N932 million posted in the same period in 2022.


Also the NASD Securities Index (NSI), which measures the performance of all the securities traded on the platform, saw a significant increase of 31 percent to 927.77 basis points from 709.66 points in 2022.

Value traded increased by 34 percent to N37.57 billion as against N28.02 billion in 2022, while the volume of share traded rose to 4.84 billion units from 3.89 billion units in 2022.

Commenting on the 2023 performance and making projections for 2024, the Managing Director, Eguarekhide Longe, NASD, said the impressive performance within the year reflects a vibrant and potential-rich environment within the NASD OTC Exchange.

He stated that despite the departure of VFD Group Plc, which is a notable company, the market exhibited growth in the number of admitted securities and market capitalization.

According to him, the 31 percent growth in the NSI showcased the resilience and increased interaction with the NASD OTC Exchange by both the investing public and other market participants.

Longe assured the stakeholders that the lessons learned and experiences gained in the past year would shape the strategic direction for the future, adding that the company aims to enhance its market presence and contribute significantly to the broader financial landscape.

He further assured that NASD Plc would seize new opportunities and maintain its commitment to fostering a resilient and dynamic market for all participants in 2024.

Meanwhile the Central Securities Clearing Settlement System (CSCS) Plc led the top 10 most active stocks in the market within the year with N21.94 billion in value traded.
