Making it past the group stage, a feat they have never achieved, will be the utmost objective for the Taifa Stars of Tanzania as they make their fourth Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) appearance in Cote D’Ivoire.
Paired in a tricky group with some heavyweights like favourites, Morocco, former Champions, Zambia and dark horse, DR Congo, Tanzania know they have their work cut out to make it past the group phase.
While it looks a tall order for them, one good thing the Adel Amrouche-led side have going for them is experience of having been on this stage thrice in the past, and as such, can’t manage and navigate the nuances that come with it.
Coach
Though his first outing on the biggest stage of African football, Adel Amrouche is no stranger to African teams with a rich stint of managing clubs from African countries as well as a few national teams.
Ahead of the tournament, the Algerian-born coach has been modest with his expectations while looking forward to the opportunity to lead his team against the best on the continent.
