With the Super Eagles of Nigeria already through to the Round of 16, the question revolves around who is likely to be their opponent in the next round.
Bouncing back from a disappointing 1-1 draw against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea to defeat the host Cote D’Ivoire 1-0 and scrape another slim 1-0 win over Guinea Bissau, Nigeria solidified their place as Group A runners-up.
Based on the CAF matches schedule, Nigeria’s opponent in the knockout stage will be the runners-up from Group C.
Group C, comprising Senegal, Cameroon, Guinea, and Gambia, is yet to complete its group stage fixtures.
Currently, the standings show Senegal topping the group with an impeccable six points from two games. Closely followed by Guinea who sit in second with four points.
Five-time winners Cameroon are placed third, with a slim chance of nicking the second spot should Senegal defeat Guinea and they do their homework well to trounce Gambia.
