Forex: Reps ask NASENI to conduct research on security, agriculture

The House of Representatives Committee on National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has urged the agency to come up with research on security, agriculture and infrastructure to improve the nation’s foreign exchange earnings.

The Chairman, Taofik Ajilesoro, gave the charge on Thursday in Abuja at the inaugural meeting of the committee.

He said, “As a matter of fact, the committee enjoins the agency to do more in their research into defence/security sector, agricultural sector and infrastructural sector.

“This in turn would save and bring in the much needed foreign earnings that will impact positively on the socio-economic development of our nation.”

This is as the lawmaker pledged the committee’s commitment to reposition the agency to enable it achieve its mandate.


According to him, the committee is solely responsible to oversight the activities of NASENI, even as he stressed that it will not shy away from “This constitutional responsibility.”

The chairman said that the committee will employ all necessary legislative instruments readily available to reposition it perform its statutory responsibilities to the nation.
