Glasgow Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers is looking forward to winning more titles in Scotland after bagging his first piece of silverware with the club in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Rangers beat Aberdeen 1-0 at Hampden Park on Sunday thanks to Captain James Tavernier’s acrobatic volley at the back post which earned the Gers their first League Cup title since 2011.
The Nigerian striker joined the club in the summer from Italian side Cremonese and he is just settling well after enduring some rough patches.
“It’s a really good feeling when you arrive here in the summer, you already know what it’s all about winning trophies and to get the first one after a couple of months feels amazing,” Dessers said.
He has come under criticism from Rangers in previous weeks but he believes the League Cup win has tightened their connection and he looks forward to achieving more at Ibrox
“When you can do this together with a team, with the fans and everybody around the club, it forms a connection and this is the first but it makes me really hungry and I think all of us want to keep going.
He also reflected on his goal in their 3-2 away win over Real Betis in the UEFA Europa League last Thursday as they finished top of their group with 11 points.
“It was an amazing week for all of us, coming from Thursday to today. No day off, we are focused on Wednesday again but we will enjoy this moment and it will give us a mental boost for the upcoming busy fixtures. We just want to keep winning games.”
Second in the Scottish league and five points behind Celtic, Rangers return to Scottish Premiership action on Wednesday at home to St Johnstone.
